Fidelity Engineering & Construction’s core business is General Contracting in the Heavy Civil Construction Industry. We specialize in Bridge Replacement & Rehabilitation, Highway Construction, Culvert Replacement & Rehabilitation, Earthwork including Excavation & Site Development, Retaining Walls & Erosion Control, Environmental Habitat Reconstruction and Demolition & Decommissioning.
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated university student to join our team as a Project Coordinator-Summer Student. This role provides hands-on exposure to construction project management and field operations. The student will work closely with Project Managers, Site Superintendents, and field crews to support project coordination, documentation, scheduling, and cost tracking.
This is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related programs to gain practical experience in heavy civil construction.
Location: Various Locations within Ontario
Term: April-August (approx. 16 weeks)
Responsibilities
- Monitor work progress and gather field data on sites
- Assist with project documentation, RFIs, submittals, and drawing revisions
- Track quantities, production, and daily progress reports
- Support scheduling and coordination of subcontractors and suppliers
- Maintain project files and digital records
- Assess deficiencies and assist in development of remediation proposals
- Assist with cost tracking, purchase orders, and invoice verification
- Participate in safety meetings and ensure documentation compliance
- Assist with surveying, layout, and as-built information (where applicable)
- Communicate with project team members to support project execution
- Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering/Management, or related university program
- Completed at least 2nd year of study preferred
- Construction experience would be preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work both in office and field environments
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Experience with AutoCAD software is beneficial
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required
