Position Summary
The Senior Foreperson, Foreperson, and Sub-Foreperson provide direct field leadership for assigned utility crews and are accountable for the safe, productive, and compliant completion of distribution, transmission, civil, pole-line, and related electrical utility work.
The total wage package includes the hourly wage rate, vacation and statutory holiday pay, health and welfare benefits, and RRSP contributions.
Statutory holiday and vacation pay is paid at 10% of the applicable hourly rate. Health and welfare contributions are $4.00 per hour, and RRSP contributions are $8.00 per hour. CUSW administers the health and welfare and RRSP programs.
Overtime provisions are administered in accordance with the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement, including double-time provisions for Saturdays, Sundays, and statutory holidays.
Fidelity Utilities Inc. and CUSW have also established provisions for additional Living Out Allowance (LOA), as determined by the Company based on the location and requirements of the assigned work.
Core Responsibilities
• Lead assigned crews, coordinate daily activities, and assign work according to employee qualifications, classifications, and customer requirements.
• Conduct daily tailboards, hazard assessments, job briefings, and crew assignments before work begins.
• Plan and coordinate crew requirements, equipment, materials, traffic control, outages, live-line considerations, grounding, and emergency procedures.
• Review drawings, work packages, field instructions, permits, switching requirements, and customer specifications.
• Coordinate bucket trucks, radial-boom derricks, pickups, trailers, grounding equipment, hot sticks, dielectric equipment, and other required resources.
• Ensure work complies with the CUSW Collective Bargaining Agreement, applicable legislation, utility rules, customer standards, and Fidelity Utilities Inc. policies and procedures.
• Confirm employees are trained, qualified, properly equipped, and working within their authorized classifications and scope of work.
• Enforce personal protective equipment, minimum approach distance, isolation, grounding, live-line, and traffic-control requirements.
• Stop work when conditions are unsafe, required documentation or authorization is unavailable, or applicable standards cannot be met.
• Immediately report incidents, injuries, near misses, property damage, environmental events, equipment failures, and serious quality or safety deficiencies.
• Support crew productivity, workmanship, field documentation, and the development and mentoring of Journeypersons and Apprentices, as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Relevant supervisory and field leadership experience in utility distribution, transmission, pole-line, civil, or related electrical work.
- Working knowledge of energized and de-energized utility systems, outage planning, grounding, pole installation, equipment operation, safe-work procedures, and field documentation.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license appropriate for assigned duties and all required safety, trade, and customer-specific certifications.
- Ability to use company-approved field software, tablets, and other required technology.

Union membership, dues, dispatch or referral requirements, benefits, RRSP contributions, vacation and statutory holiday pay, premiums, overtime, and wage increases are administered in accordance with the governing CUSW Collective Bargaining Agreement.
