Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead heavy civil construction projects across Ontario, primarily within our highway division that focuses on roads and bridges. This role is responsible for overall project performance, including safety, scheduling, budgeting, quality, procurement, contract administration, stakeholder coordination, and team leadership.
The ideal candidate has proven success delivering complex road, bridge, highway, or municipal infrastructure projects in both rural and urban environments, and is comfortable working with field teams, consultants, subcontractors, and public-sector clients such as MTO, DND, and municipalities.
Responsibilities
- Lead projects from pre-construction through closeout
- Manage project performance, including cost, schedule, quality, safety, and reporting
- Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and productivity tracking
- Build and update project schedules and recovery plans
- Prepare and manage submittals, change orders, RFIs, claims, and project communications
- Manage procurement and subcontractor coordination
- Assess deficiencies and develop remediation proposals
- Collaborate with superintendents and field teams to ensure efficient execution
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with contract documents, specifications, permits, environmental commitments, and company procedures
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OHSA, project safety plans, and site-specific requirements
- Support tender reviews, project handoff, risk identification, and project strategy
- Mentor junior project staff and contribute to continuous improvement across operations
- Maintain project files and digital records, including As-Built Records
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of project management experience in heavy civil construction
- Experience with Ontario public-sector projects (MTO, DND, municipalities)
- Strong background in cost control, forecasting, subcontract management, and change orders
- Solid understanding of scheduling, contract administration, and field coordination
- Experience working directly with owners, consultants, inspectors, subcontractors, and suppliers in Ontario
- Familiarity with OPSS/OPSD, MTO/municipal standards, traffic staging, utility coordination, and heavy civil project controls.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is preferred; equivalent accredited civil engineering degree or closely related construction/infrastructure degree will also be considered
- P.Eng. designation or eligibility is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD and Primavera P6 or equivalent scheduling tool is an asset
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required

Working Conditions
- Combination of office and outdoor construction site reviews, oversight and meetings
- Must be comfortable working around heavy equipment and varying weather conditions
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) provided
Annual Salary Range: $70,000-$120,000
